Tom and Theresa Wajnert are known to many of their friends and family, simply, as T and T. They started TNT Vineyards in 2002 with the purchase of a 13 acre parcel on Diamond Mountain just outside of Calistoga, California (the upper part of the Napa Valley). Along with a home site with a spectacular view of the Palisades and Mount St Helena, the parcel included a 5 acre Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard that had been planted in the late 60’s. Working with a consulting viticulturist and Peter Nissen, a vineyard manager with over 30 years experience with Napa vines, the vineyard was revitalized and nurtured for the first 2 years to produce its first harvest in 2004.
TnT came to know and love wines through their experience as Founding Trustees of the Naples (Florida) Winter wine Festival….the world’s largest charity wine auction. In fact, Tom was the Chairman of the third auction in 2003 .
The home they built on the Kiss Ridge parcel is styled after homes they visited in the Piemonte region of Italy. While traditional in style it was built for contemporary living and lots of entertaining. The gardens like the vineyard benefit from the non-frost microclimate and support extraordinary citrus, 140 year old olive trees, a vegetable garden like no other and, yes, even banana palms
The Wajnert’s home is known as Villa della Cresta di Bacio…loosely translated from the Italian as the “house on Kiss Ridge”…and their vineyard dogs (Labradoodles) are named Cresta and Bacio.
